About

Hi there!

My name is Rebecca Kollmer and I am a graphic designer from Long Island, New York. I graduated from Hofstra University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with a concentration in design and a minor in marketing.

Growing up I loved American history and wanted to be a middle school social studies teacher. On the recommendation of my 9th grade art teacher I took my first graphic design class and fell in love with graphic design and Adobe Illustrator. I taught myself the entire program using tutorials online, and eventually became the Editor in Chief of my Senior yearbook class.

Though I loved graphic design, when I applied to Hofstra as a freshman I still registered as an education and history major. Taking those history classes didn't make me happy, but the art classes did. So, I changed my major to fine arts with a concentration in graphic design after my first semester and haven’t had any regrets (well maybe during a few extremely tight deadlines, but they were all met!).

During my last semester of college I took an internship at Weight Watchers. It was the perfect mix of everything – a magazine, cookbooks, brand projects, presentations, and food. A few months after I graduated, Weight Watchers hired me full-time. I threw myself so far into my work that I joined the program and lost 50 pounds. This gave me a unique perspective into what a member really needed on their weight-loss journey and an in-depth knowledge of the program. One of the best things about this job is knowing that the work I do helps people, which makes it very rewarding.

When I’m not behind my computer you can usually find me in the kitchen baking up a storm and making a mess (see the outcome of that here).
